The city of Hanover is preparing to welcome the global textile and garment technology industry as it gears up to host ITMA 2027. Scheduled to take place from 16 to 22 September 2027, the exhibition will occupy 200,000 square metres across 13 halls at Messegelände Hannover.
ITMA, which is held every four years since its inception in 1951, was last held in Hanover in 1991. The successful bid to host the 2027 edition was submitted by Deutsche Messe, in close partnership with the City of Hanover and the Lord Mayor’s Office.
Belit Onay, Mayor and CEO of the City of Hanover, expressed the city’s enthusiasm, stating that Hanover is ready to deliver an exceptional ITMA. He emphasized that the city is known for its efficient infrastructure, green spaces, and calm atmosphere, making it an ideal location for large international gatherings. With a blend of historical character and modern convenience, Hanover offers a well-rounded urban experience.
Hanover is well-versed in managing large-scale trade events and offers a wide range of accommodation options. The city currently provides over 18,000 hotel beds ranging from budget to high-end, and the surrounding regions add another 54,000 beds. Additionally, approximately 4,000 private accommodations are available in the city and nearby areas. For participants seeking alternative stays, a dedicated campground is located directly opposite the exhibition venue, suitable for those traveling with motorhomes or caravans. An additional 700 rooms are expected to be added in the city center by next year.
To support participants, ITMA Services has appointed bnetwork, an experienced accommodation service provider, to handle hotel and vacation apartment bookings. bnetwork, which previously supported ITMA events in Barcelona, brings nearly twenty years of expertise to ensure a smooth booking process.
A dedicated website for ITMA 2027 accommodation bookings is currently under development. Until then, interested participants can reach out via itmahotels@bnetwork.com for enquiries and reservations.
Although Hanover is not among Germany’s primary international gateways, it is exceptionally well connected within Europe. The city features direct high-speed train links and a well-served airport. Messegelände Hannover is easily accessible through public transportation, including two modern light rail stations that connect directly to the city center. The venue is also directly connected to the motorway network and offers approximately 39,000 car parking spaces.
Alex Zucchi, President of CEMATEX, which owns ITMA, affirmed that Hanover offers the infrastructure needed to support such a large-scale international event. He added that the organizing team is closely collaborating with the venue operator to ensure a seamless experience for all exhibitors and visitors, maintaining the high standards of previous ITMA editions.
More information about ITMA 2027 will be made available on the official website, which is scheduled to launch in July. Stand space applications will open in September.
The most recent edition, ITMA 2023, was held in Milan. It covered 200,000 square metres and hosted 1,709 exhibitors from 47 countries, attracting more than 111,000 visitors from 143 nations.
