Coronation Street star Cait Fitton has shared her 'honour' as she revealed the hidden message behind her appearance at the recent British Soap Awards.

The actress was among the stars who represented the ITV soap at the star-studded bash, which took place in London last Saturday night (May 31).

Fans of the country's biggest soaps finally got to see all the action unfold from this year's ceremony, hosted by Jane McDonald at the Hackney Empire, on ITV on Thursday night (June 5).

At the bash, Cait dazzled with a golden wet-look. The soap star, who plays Lauren Bolton in Corrie, has now shared the importance behind the glamorous gown she was wearing.

It's been revealed that her eye-catching gold dress from Peonies and Cream was in tribute to the inspirational Leah Smith, from Liverpool, who died last year after she was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma.

"At 18 , Leah was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, A rare, brutal form of bone cancer. But Leah’s case? Even rarer. Her tumour hadn’t grown inside the bone, but outside it. Her story is not one of tragedy. It’s one of courage. And above all — love."

She continued: "So please spare some time to listen to Leah’s story , and the words from the people who meant so much to her as we continue to bring her memory to light.
