All this summer Quad Citians have been dealing with construction and it's no different in Moline. As the Quad Cities Marathon approaches this weekend, many have been wondering how that will impact getting around.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, all of the construction equipment and barricades will be completely removed by the end of the day Friday. Some other things to keep in mind this weekend.

If you are driving in from Iowa into Moline, you want to avoid the River Drive exit because it will be packed. Race Director Joe Moreno instead recommends commuters to use the 7th avenue exit.

With all the activities going on Moreno also wants to remind drivers to keep an eye out for the runners on the intersection. Unlike last year's heat wave, the weather should be perfect running weather so runners should be able to reach their personal best.

Moreno also say for the past 21 years the community has been supportive and they hope people continue to come out have a good time and support the runners.

“We encourage people to come on and root the runners on. It’s a great feeling when the communities come out and support the runners. They really need that, that's just as important as a water station to have support out there cheering them on," said Moreno.

River Drive will remain open starting Friday. Other events on Sunday also include the half marathon, relay, and 5-k. In all, there are 5 races, 4 cities, 3 bridges, 2 states, and 1 island included. Runners step off at 7 a-m on Sunday. You can look at the route map on their website:
