BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College women’s tennis team rolled past Hollins 6-1 on Wednesday.
The program honored its two graduating members and the duo of Raea Crabill and Emma Staton put the emotion to good use as they were first off in doubles play with a 6-1 victory at the No. 2 spot. Sraha Slagle and Jolexie Whetzel picked up a 6-2 win at the top spot, while the duo of Devon Wichael and Carson Cale completed the sweep with the same scoreline at the No. 3 slot.
The middle of the ladder thrived for BC in singles play. Crabill was first off the court with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4, while Wichael was shortly behind with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 5 slot. CHarlotte Weaver was the next off the court with a 6-4, 7-5 win at the No.6 slot. Whetzel rolled to a 6-3, 6-2 win on court No. 2 and Staton rounded out the action on her senior day with a 6-4, 7-6(2) win at the No. 3 slot.
The Eagles conclude the season with a 4-13 mark overall.
