Residents displaced after fire in Roanoke: Firefighters

The Roanoke FireEMS Department said residents have been displaced after a fire on Thursday.

At 7:52 a.m., crews were dispatched by the E-911 Center to reports of a structure fire in the 1800 block of Westview Avenue SW.

Upon arrival, their team on Engine 5 B-Shift reported fire showing from the front of the residence, the department said.

According to the department, the call was upgraded to a working fire, and crews went to work searching the structure and putting out the flames.

The people in the home were alerted to the fire by their smoke detectors, and no injuries were reported, the department said. The fire was contained to the area of origin and was marked under control at 8:09 a.m.

The residents have been displaced at this time, and the cause is determined to be accidental in nature, the department said.
