Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has given Marcus Rashford a lifeline after suggesting the loanee could still have a future at Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old, who was dropped by the Portuguese manager, has found a new lease of life at Aston Villa. Villa have the option to make Rashford's loan move permanent for £40million at the end of the season, although that could depend on whether or not they secure European football.

However, speaking at a press conference ahead of United's Premier League match vs Bournemouth, on Sunday, Amorim hinted that all possibilities remain on the table. "All the players on loan will return and then the club will decide what to do at the end of the season," he said.

"When you put a player on loan, the best thing is for them to perform. All these [loan] players have talent and they have to put that on the team."

Rashford isn't the only player out on loan, with Jadon Sancho (Chelsea), Antony (Real Betis) and Tyrell Malacia (PSV Eindhoven) all set to return to Old Trafford once the season concludes.

"The talent of Rashford, the talent of Antony, they all have talent," Amorim added. "We are really happy, because if you put players on loan you want them to perform. That is good for us."

The 62-cap England international has impressed Villa manager Unai Emery, who admitted being pleased with the winger's performances. "This is the challenge he has. He is getting better and feeling confident, understanding our demands," said Emery.

"We're trying to get the best out of the players. His qualities and experience are very important in our squad. Each match he plays for us is very important."
