On Wednesday, On3 and ESPN reported that wing Taylor Bol Bowen would leave Florida State and enter the transfer portal. Bol Bowen spent two years in Tallahassee, revamping his shot in 24-25 and possessing the athletic ability to guard 1-4. He averaged eight points per game on 47.7% shooting with 5.2 rebounds, over a block, and a steal per contest. Bol Bowen played high school basketball in Vermont and was born in a refugee camp before being adopted and growing up in the United States. He also said that he would be opening to returning to FSU.

The 6-10 sophomore averaged 8.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per game this season. Shot 47.7% from the field and 41.4% from three. https://t.co/VSKPPpWEtv pic.twitter.com/oGcJkKYn87
Bol Bowen’s frame and potential should attract schools nationwide, as 6’10’’ wings capable of shooting do not grow on trees. His shot looked night and day from 2024-25, and he stepped up as a vocal leader during the inconsistent moments last season. However, he never could take a game over, and FSU struggled when he played, and Jamir Watkins and Malique Ewin sat. His next step at his new school will be making plays off the dribble and carrying an offense on his own.
Given his experience and versatility, he seemed like a strong fit for new coach Luke Loucks, but the player and possibly the team had other ideas, at least for right now.
