That was after a long playing career which included nine years with Manchester United.
Bruce never played in Scotland so it's unclear why he was present at Tannadice this afternoon.
However, it's possible that he was scouting out potential transfer targets for the summer.
United striker Sam Dalby is on loan from Blackpool's League One rivals Wrexham, but it's expected that he will leave the Welsh outfit on a free transfer when his contract runs out this summer.

It wasn't a great afternoon for Dalby if Bruce was coming to scout him out, with the striker drawing a blank.
Alongside Bruce in Dundee was Jimmy Nicholl, another man who turned out for Man United in his playing days.
He also enjoyed two spells with Rangers in the 1980s, before also joining Dunfermline and Raith Rovers later in his career.
