Corbin baseball moves on to 50th District Championship

Corbin takes down the Cardinals and advances to the 50th district title game.

LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - The Corbin Redhounds and the South Laurel Cardinals took the mound in the first round of the 50th District tournament. Corbin won the game, 4-1.

Both teams were scoreless after the first inning.

In the top of the second, Cam Estep hit a homerun to get the Redhounds on the board first. In that same inning Clay Botner singled, and Cooper McCauley singled.

With two runners on base, Levi Brock sent the ball to center field which resulted in a double RBI.

At the end of the second inning, the score was 3-0 in favor of Corbin.

Corbin kept their momentum.

In the top of the fourth a wild pitch by the Cardinals led to McCauley sliding into home.

To start the fifth inning the Redhounds led 4-0.

In the fifth inning, Reece Noble reached base for South Laurel.

After the play by Noble, Jack Vaughn made contact and was out at first, but he was able to send Noble to third.

With a runner on third, Keaton Smith singled, which resulted in Noble scoring.

Corbin will play Whitley Co. on May 20 at 7:00 p.m.
