South Laurel Softball advances to 50th District Championship
LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - The South Laurel Lady Cardinals took on the Williamsburg Lady Jackets in the first round of the 50th District Tournament and won, 15-0.
Starting pitcher, Kenzie Williams, set the tone for South Laurel by having a three up, three down inning in the top of the first.
In the bottom of the first, South Laurel’s Emmie Rice was batting with two runners on base. She made contact and sent the ball over the wall for a two-run homerun.
By the end of the first inning the score was 5-0 in favor of the Cardinals.
It was all South Laurel from then on.
Angel Stephens landed a base hit for Williamsburg in the top of the fourth, but it was not enough to score.
