Britain’s Got Talent fans say ‘I’ll eat my hat’ as 'professional' singer performs in semi-final
The last semi-final aired on ITV on Saturday, May 24
It's the last semi-final of Britain's Got Talent 2025 and one viewer is preparing to eat their hat after a shock in the live show on Saturday night.
Eight acts performed on ITV's Britain's Got Talent on Saturday, May 24: dancer Binita Chetry, singer CJ Emmons, singers Han and Fran, magic act Harry Moulding, dancer Jerry Pop, Lazy Generation, magician Manho Han, and balancing act Red Panda.
One act hailed "outstanding" was singer Cj Emmons who wowed the judges, at-home viewers and audience members alike. But one viewer remarked that they will eat their hat if they don't get the Golden Buzzer - which they did not!
Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, Simon Cowell and Bruno Tonioli returned to judge Series 18 of the ITV talent competition, with rapper and boxer KSI standing in occasionally for Bruno when he has other commitments.
KSI returned to the judging panel for the last semi-final and has been given the Golden Buzzer - meaning he has sole choice of which act gets sent straight to the final, which is set to take place on Saturday, May 31.
Although he was being egged on by the chanting audience, KSI did not press the Golden Buzzer for CJ - who performed a rendition of James Brown's It's A Man's Man's Man's World.
Over on X, formerly known as Twitter, @Sophiegracei wrote: "If this doesn’t get the golden buzzer then I’ll eat my hat WOW WOW WOW #bgt #BritainsGotTalent"
@TheYOLOArtist added: "Wow, I mean wow, CJ Evans once again that was absolutely outstanding, my word. That’s talent."
And @SHANEOfficial_ commented: "CJ! The range, the soul, the technique. Just insane. I hope everyone votes you through to the Final!"
CJ mentioned undergoing surgery just weeks ago, and X user @jimins_mochi_x wrote: "Considering CJ had gallbladder removal surgery 2 weeks ago and he’s already smashing it on stage again is just absolutely incredible."
Viewers of the hit ITV competition show can vote online for free, and they can scan the QR code during the show to quickly access the website.
For the first time in Britain's Got Talent history, the semi-finals were spread out week-by-week rather than airing all the episodes nightly over a week - making it the longest lasting series of BGT ever.
The winner of Britain's Got Talent gets to perform at the Royal Varieties Show - following in the footsteps of Sydnie Christmas who won in 2024, and dancer Viggo Venn who won the show in 2023.
