Memorial Day storm damage reports in Cenla
(KALB) - Colin Vedros and Daviion Telsee were out in Cenla on Tuesday to learn more about the damage reports from the Memorial Day storms.
Cleanup in Pineville
Over in Pineville, four homeowners KALB spoke to, who did not want to be identified on camera, said they are lucky to not have any major damage to their homes.
One homeowner, whose house is off of Holly Moore Drive, said damage came close to their car, but there was no damage inside the home.

Another homeowner, who lives in the Harmony Hills subdivision, said she could hear and feel the storm roll through. She said she had to hold onto her couch cushions as the wind and rain made it look and feel like a tornado ripped through the area.
While there was no damage inside their home, a tree fell on the road parallel to the house and uprooted, covering the roadway.

“Our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to get the power restored,” said Fran Phoenix with Cleco. “We thank our customers for their patience.”
Cleco also reminded everyone not to go near downed powerlines and always treat them as active.
Grant Parish faces power outages and storm damage
Hundreds of homes in Bentley and the surrounding areas of Grant Parish are currently without power. Many residents are experiencing outages as crews from Cleco and their contractors work around the clock to restore electricity.
Grant Parish Sheriff Steven McCain is asking for patience during this difficult time.
“It’s going to take some time, and a lot of patience,” Sheriff McCain said. “Cleco has brought in contractors, and they’re working as fast as they can to get people’s lights back on.”

The storm started on the west side of the parish and moved east, causing widespread damage. The sheriff’s office received numerous 911 calls reporting downed trees, power lines and blocked roads. At the peak of the storm, dozens of roads in Grant Parish were blocked by fallen trees and power lines.
“Trees that were hundreds of years old fell within inches of people’s homes,” Sheriff McCain explained. “We did have some homes that were damaged, but thankfully, no one was hurt. The good Lord protected everybody.”
Officials report no serious injuries, and damage to homes has been minor. However, they are strongly urging residents to practice generator safety.
“If you’re running a generator, please do not put it inside your house or underneath it,” Sheriff McCain warned. “It needs to be placed away from the home, because the fumes can be deadly.”
The sheriff is also asking residents to remain patient as cleanup and repairs continue.
“We need your patience now while all the debris gets picked up and the utility workers are replacing electrical lines and poles,” he said.
