Reggie Hill announced his candidacy for the 2025 Mobile City Council election in October of 2024. Read his press release below:

The City of Mobile is in dire need of priority-first decision makers working at City Hall. The question becomes: who actually has a sound plan to make our quality of life better than what we are currently stuck with, now?

Regardless of which neighborhood we reside in, the success and failures of our collective community are interrelated. Sadly, particular areas look like specific Citizens work ten-times harder than the nextwhen in actuality, poor policy efforts and mismanaged public funds are the true reasons for such reality, holistically.

At some point, our participation [here] in the Municipal Election process must yield more to us than just an “I Voted” sticker. We deserve greater representation at Mobile Government Plaza. 2025 is our time of redemption!

For this very reason, Friends to Elect Reggie Hill is ecstatic to formally announce the Candidacy of Reginald J. Hill, II – M. Ed. to become your next District 2 Councilman for the Mobile City Council, on August 26, 2025.

Records shall prove that Candidate Hill is arguably one of the most engaged Mobilians ever to participate in the local government sector. Most Tuesday meeting minutes reflect Candidate Hill addressing the major topic of the moment and offering the comprehensive resolve that elected officials embrace or later learn they should have.

We firmly believe that Candidate Hill is by far the most proactive and solution-oriented Citizen who shall place a bid for the District 2 seat, here in Mobile, AL.

Early hiring of Mobile Parks & Recreation Department swimming pool Lifeguards; extension of MPRD hours/days of operation; establishment of MPRD summer program scholarship; upgrades to Kidd Park Basketball Court; community accessibility to Harmon Recreation Center Baseball Field Lights; increased investment for local HBCU Cultural Events; production of City’s first modern Vehicular Inventory List; increase to City Clerk’s Office budget; increase to Council District Discretionary budget; increase to Performance Contract budget; preservation of City facilitated maintenance responsibilities at Dearborn YMCA; ensuring contracts over $15,000 still have to be voted on versus being signed with Administrative approval alone; extension of Council District Capital Improvement Discretionary spending; implementation of revitalization efforts by Municipal Enforcement; adoption of equal First=Responder salary increase; and the return of Amtrakare all results of specific actions that Candidate Hill made without even being elected to the Mobile City Council. And, efforts he accepts he may never truly be credited for.

Trust and believe, our (reported) Municipal Officials know the truth, however!

Even with such effect, Candidate Hill strongly believes there is still so much more to be done to enhance the level of living in the Port City.

These efforts include: capitalizing on the serious potential of our Waterfront through repurposing the Convention Center area; advocating for Gaming with the Mobile County Legislative Delegation to repurpose GulfQuest Maritime Museum; strategically cementing the legend of Africatown as an international influencer and revenue stream; revamping BayFest; restoring Hank Aaron Stadium and returning Minor League/Developmental League Sports (of varying kinds); modernizing our outdated drainage system; eliminating privatization of City contracts thus repowering our City Departments; removing excessive overhead from non-priority personnel creation; increasing safety by securing necessary Public/Affordable Housing; dissolving baseless fees for Community Center usage; decreasing the cost to do business or obtain a business license; creating more youth-based initiatives (especially afterschool and during school closure); passing a budget which reflects the best interest of all Mobilians; and working with the DA and MCSO to systematically dilute the overcrowded prison population, among so many other ideas

Candidate Hill moves in this direction, knowing that while he would be elected in District 2, his weeklyvote shall impact the entire City of Mobile!

We urge our neighbors to examine the State of Our District, District 2. After numerous terms of right in our face examples, we cannot afford to waste four more years on mediocrity, waffling, out-of-touch ideology, and fence-straddling.

Reggie Hill is the best Candidate to lead us into a direction of peace, promise, and prosperity. Be the difference that positively shifts our community towards progress for generations to come.

Candidate Hill is a product of District 2 schools within the Mobile County Public School System – attending Leinkauf and Calloway-Smith before graduating from Murphy High School as an Advanced Diploma with Academic Endorsements recipient. He holds a General Studies Degree with a Concentration in Music Education from Alabama A&M University, a Master of Education Degree from Concordia University-Portland in Curriculum & Instruction, and plans to earn his Juris Doctor from the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University.

Over the coming days, weeks, and months, Friends to Elect Reggie Hill will be doing everything we can to develop a relationship with you and be of beneficial service to your needs.

Candidate Hill expects to work with community leaders from all over the varying Districts – to truly make this the best place to live, not only in the State of Alabama, but across the Country.

“In my District—District 2—there are Constituents who live on Section 8 and Constituents who own mansions on Government Street. I have served as a County Election Officer for them all and even those economically in between. It is far past time that our City’s most diverse District finally has representation who embodies the needs of every-single-one of our fellow Citizens. The moment has arrived to renew!

Let’s get Moving Forward Together.” Peace!
